Роялисты в Национальном Конвенте

В статье анализируется проблема, важная для понимания истории контрреволюционного движения в годы Французской революции XVIII в.: были ли в составе Национального Конвента (1792–1795), начавшего свою работу с провозглашения республики, сторонники реставрации королевской власти? Статья основана на многочисленных документах той эпохи: материалах из Национального архива Франции и Архива внешней политики Российской империи, донесениях роялистских и английских агентов во Франции, прессе, переписке и воспоминаниях современников. Упоминания о роялистах в стенах Конвента неоднократно встречаются и у современников, и у историков, однако обычно не подкрепляются доказательствами. При Термидоре в Конвенте была развязана настоящая «охота на ведьм», депутаты во многом столь же бездоказательно обвиняли друг друга в симпатиях к монархии. Тем не менее, на основе анализа документов и сопоставления многочисленных свидетельств можно прийти к выводу о том, что роялисты не только входили в состав Конвента, но и планировали летом 1795 г. сохранить свое политическое влияние, восстановив монархию. При этом они делали ставку на различных претендентов на престол: герцога Орлеанского, Генриха Прусского или планировали организовать регентство при малолетнем Людовике XVII. Только смерть короля в парижской тюрьме Тампль разрушила эти планы.
