Феодор Гавра и его печати

В публикации рассматривается жизненный путь Феодора Гавры – одного из высших византийских сановников 80–90-х гг. XI в. Ранний этап его карьеры известен по миниатюре из рукописи, хранящейся в Санкт-Петербурге, на ней изображена ктиторская композиция: патрикий и топотирит Феодор Гавра и его жена Ирина. Сходство этой миниатюры и изображения на фреске XI в. в Сентинском храме в Алании (совр. Карачаево-Черкесия), указывает на то, что Ирина – по происхождению, вероятно, аланка, как и его вторая жена. Сведения о Феодоре содержатся в «Алексиаде» Анны Комниной и у Иоанна Зонары. В 1075 г. Феодор Гавра освободил Халдию от сельджуков, а Алексей I Комнин, придя к власти и стараясь привлечь Феодора к числу своих сторонников, поставил его дукой фемы Халдия. Феодор Гавра в конце XI в. фактически являлся независимым правителем Трапезунда. В 1098 г. он мученически погиб за веру, отказавшись перейти в ислам. Уже в XII в. Феодор Гавра являлся местночтимым святым, а в XIV в. был причислен к лику святых. В год своей смерти Феодор носил титул севаста – один из высших в Византии конца XI в. В статье представлены четыре известные печати Феодора Гавры, в легенде которых упомянуты его титул севаста и должность дуки (Халдии). В приложении приводятся сведения о восемнадцати известных печатях XI–XII вв. по меньшей мере пятнадцати представителей аристократической фамилии Гавра.
